Community Commitment
SigmaTel's Charitable Contributions Committee is an employee based and managed group dedicated to actively giving back to the community we live in. Our mission is to give back through financial as well as in-kind donations and through volunteer efforts to insure a better future for these communities in which we live and work.
November 2007
SigmaTel employees turned Hungry Holidays into Happy Holidays for Central Texas with their support for the Capital Area Food Bank with their donations.
October 2007
Members of the Contributions Committee helped The Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas beautify Rodriguez Elementary School by landscaping, constructing flower beds, gardening and planting trees on October 12, 2007.
September 2007
With chillier temperatures right around the corner, SigmaTel wanted to help those less fortunate, by donating blankets and jeans to the Front Steps Organization, to support the Austin Homeless. On any given night nearly 6,000 homeless individuals find themselves sleeping on Austin’s streets.
August 2007
With the first day of school just around the corner, in July and August the SigmaTel staff wanted to help out the kids. Over $1200 of cash donations and various school supplies went to For the Children, an Austin nonprofit organization dedicated to providing school supplies to students from low-income families. For the Children hands out school supplies to more than 50,000 Pre-K through 5th grade students in the Austin area each year.
June 2007
In the month of June, SigmaTel Charitable Contributions Committee has selected Family Eldercare as the community program to support. Family Eldercare provides essential services for elders, adults with disabilities and those who care for them. SigmaTel employees are participating in their 17th Annual Fan Drive where fans are distributed to low-income elders, persons with disabilities and families with young children living on a fixed income.
May 2007
Throughout the month of May, SigmaTel employees will participate in a SafePlace Drive to donate to the SafePlace programs.
Austin-based SafePlace provides a wide spectrum of services to survivors of violence, including: a 24-hour hotline; a 100-bed Family Shelter for battered adults and children; accompaniment and support at area hospitals for recent rape survivors; specialized recreational and therapeutic services for children; in-court support and accompaniment for survivors of violence seeking justice and protection through the legal system; individual and group counseling for children and adults; 46 apartment units of transitional housing for families leaving shelter; on-site child care for shelter and transitional housing residents; on-site K-8 education for shelter residents; and resource advocacy, to help link survivors of violence who are homeless or struggling financially with short-term emergency assistance.
In addition, SafePlace provides extensive community outreach, education and prevention programs to help individuals and families better identify and address sexual and domestic violence issues.
April 2007
On Saturday April 14th, members of the SigmaTel team will participate in two community based events.
SigmaTel employee volunteers will join the
20th Anniversary SafePlace Walk with countless others in honoring the courage of the survivors and the memory of those we have lost as a result of rape, sexual assault and domestic violence. This Walk is SafePlace's largest community awareness and fundraising event.
April 14th is also
"It's My Park! Day" an annual community service day focused on improvements to Austin's park system. Our team will join others on the Barton Creek Greenbelt pick up trash and clean up along the Twin Falls/Sculpture Falls greenbelt corridor.
March 2007
On Saturday March 24th, SigmaTel employees are participating in the Girlstart Expanding Your Horizons day long workshop. This program allows 300 middle school girls the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops led by professional women who have careers in math, science and technology.
February 2007
For February, the Charitable Contributions Committee is supporting Libraries of Love, an Austin-based charity that grew from a local librarian's desire to share her love of books and learning with Ugandan children who had few resources.
January 2007
January's theme for our charitable contributions was pet-oriented. Our employees chose three Austin-based animal rescue groups to support.
- Blue Dog Rescue
- Lone Star Catahoula Rescue Group
- Tuxedo Junction Rescue
